Photos from the long distance

Turns out the length of the race impacts the number of photos. About 200 for the middle, 300 for the long ;-)

Check out blair's knee in this picture - zoom in!! (I generally hate taking photos of people punching controls (not very athletic / dynamic position and always have a goofy posture & face) but I make an exception for flapping skin :-(

I also have some Sprint & Relay photos, but they might not be uploaded for a few days (have to take in computer for some repairs)

Given that I couldn't run (back injury) I was delighted to be allowed into the terrain to take "action photos" during the NAOC races. I want to thank the organizers for their help in making all of these photos. It is quite difficult to find good locations to take interesting, well exposed shots from and I was helped tremendously by the event organizers and in particular Stefan B.

I also wanted to share a link to a presentation I created about what I think it takes to make an interesting orienteering photo and also to a presentation by Martin F that got me started on trying to create a bank of interesting orienteering photos to help promote the sport and encourage more participation, sponsorship, and media coverage.

What REALLY GREAT photos, Adrian! Who could not be enthralled by orienteering when they see the age range of athletes all in colourful uniforms set against colourful leaves and a clear blue sky.
Thank you.

Some really great photos! I didn't know Adrian was there to capture one of my personally-memorable moments of the Middle, when I unexpectedly got in the middle of a pack of Elite runners crossing the beaver dam. Was way too busy making sure to keep up and not fall to see if anyone else was around. :)

Didn't realise I was looking quite that gory (at that stage I'd been running for about 1.45 since the original injury, so the blood had had plenty of time to make itself visible). I was actually more worried at the time about a hand wound from the same fall which turned out to be superficial.
