As your body gets used to these you'll be able to dial them into a less variable range. 67s is 4s (which is a lot!) faster than your target pace and will take some recovery - whereas hitting 71, or 71.6 or 70.5 etc are significantly easier. This'll evolve as the weeks go by, trust me. It'll make 5km pace seem like a doddle.
You'll also notice that your 'interval' sessions now are a decent total distance too...
He did get lost on the way to the park though.
Why is the goal pace of this session slower than the 3/2 fartlek sessions? Is it just a conservative start?
He has short legs to go with the shorter distance.
67 was the first one, after that they did settle a bit.
Pace for the fartlek was <5km pace which was guessed at 4:12's at that stage, now more like 4:00's. 3km pace is now 3:55's based on the vdot charts from the 5km run last week.
@ Juffy - did not! :P
@tRicky - my legs reach all the way to the ground, how much longer do they need to be?
That measurement is only sufficient when your bum's not on the ground.
If you come to the Thornlie event, you will need legs long enough to stride over the various logs that seem to be a feature of the bush tracks.
Short legs will be good at Applecross - or indeed at any Metro event.
