| speedy: | I hope it's just because of increased amount and intensity of your training (probably hills workouts?). |

| ken: | yeah dude, you did just double your training load this week. anyway, sounds like shin splints? usually that's from road-running though. |

| szurcher: | time to rest, but I know I am very bad at that myself... |

| GregBalter: | No comments, I am pissed; I would avoid any speed work, especially fast downhill running by all means, try to do slow running every day for 30-40 min, no O-shoes -good cushioned running shoes recommended. No soccer too - it is a must! |

| feet: | Why, it was only last Tuesday you were writing
this in your log: "Don't worry guys, I know my limits! Hey, i don't think anyone has ever worried about me OVERtraining before!!!" :) Glad you're enjoying Sweden... |

| kwilliams: | That is a normal transition pain when going from so much road and easy running to lots of training in forests, the funny marshy underfoot, small rocks, etc. You have just used some muscles in your lower legs at a higher intensity compared to what you used to do. And you are doing much more training that I ever did when I came over...(work is taking over my life). But glad to hear that it is going well and that you are getting in with the club. Hope you can come out to Gothenburg sometime for a visit! We have some nice maps only 10 minute run from the house! |

| GregBalter: | Dear Karen, injuring yourself thru training without proper prior conditioning is never normal, as per Mr.Arthur Lydiard (Peter Snell's coach). Boris spent most of the summer training rather hard, and racing in the woods from second half of July. |

| Wyatt: | Hopefully Karen's right, and it's just soreness of a muscle group that's getting a bunch of extra exercise. Hopefully relative rest & low-intensity acclimation to the terrain will help, e.g. some hour or less slower runs (pick the _slow_ women's group to run with ;). Maybe even stick to flattish trails until the pain recedes, moving on to _easy_ runs in the terrain. I really hope it's minor! |

| GregBalter: | and Boris, when your lower legs muscles fail, run on your upper legs muscles; I personally, would start running on my arms instead. (just like zhuk, not Sergei, does) |

| BorisGr: | Greg, that's a lot of comments for someone starting his post with "no comments"! :)
This is strange because it's only in my right leg, and it does not seem to have gotten better in two days. I took yesterday completely off, and might do the same again today. It hurts when i walk, which worries me a little. Thanks for all the suggestions and support, guys! |

| szurcher: | btw, do you go to your classes? |

| GregBalter: | Hey, I did not comment on your situation, I am giving you advices, based on my 30 years experience in running, and on mr. Lydiard's book "Running to the top" I am reading, he discribed your situation in good detail, and has a sound advice on it. If you can not lay your hands on this book, I will scan that paragraph this weekend and e-mail to you. (I hope copyright gods will forgive me) |
