Gotta start in the front, even if people pass you in the beginning. That way you have space to run your pace. I had a similar experience at the TdC in Neuchatel and since than I always go to the front or a few lines behind the best. It's worth it. Much more fun to be able to run your own race.
Maybe you can choose another race sometime soon to test your form. You did a good job training and it would be cool to see how you can do?

The Course de l'Escalade is tricky because if you want to stand front, you have to be there exactly 15' in the cold before your start (at the moment the previous category starts) and then you have no possibility to move until you start, as you have thousands or runners around you. I always used to do so because I had to be on the first or second line, but I also knew I could start "from scratch" (almost cold) without having troubles physically. Hugo, would that be possible with you arythmia? I.e. not moving (or only hopping on the same place) during the 15 minutes prior to your start?

That's a pity Hugo, but a good learning for the next edition. Maybe you can do a proper w-up about 30' to the start, dress warm after again and position yourself 15; prior to the start in the 1st or 2nd line on the side of the start. 3' before the start you put off your trainingjacket/pants and hand them over to someone on the side.

That's how I often arrange during big running competitions where it is essential to be in the front of the field at the start.
