I am actually convinced of that. Once we "enlighten" the doctors what we are doing with orienteering and our other recreational activities, we somehow earn some of their respect, and are not just classified as "old" and "is it really worth it at your age to do anything about that problem". I shudder when I hear that and be categorized.
Last time I was at the doc, he called in his assistants to listen to my heart saying, "now you know what it's supposed to sound like." They spend so my h time on folks who don't take care of themselves, I think it's nice or them to get a patient that does; even if they are jacked up at the moment.
