Come to Calgary/Canmore this Oct 9–11, 2015 to train and learn from some of the best orienteers in the world, Ida and Soren Bobach. This is a great opportunity to learn from the best right here in North America. This is a once in a life time opportunity, so don't miss out!

It will be a fantastic event!

Just watch Søren to race Hubmann at WOC 2014 in the second half of this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z131O9rc9eg

We can get some hot competition, great advice from the Champions on how to train and improve our orienteering skills and learn how they managed to be so successful. I hope it will be very motivational for all participants.

Do people have any other suggestions what they would like to see or get out of this event?

Sounds great. Why not see if it is still possible to make the sprint a WRE? My understanding is Canada is allocated 3, and I think the COC sprint is the only 1.

AZ:
I think it would be a good idea to make a WRE, but realistically the club is already committed to doing three WRE events next summer (don't miss the 2016 Nationals in Canmore!!). So volunteer time would be a limiting factor

D-MAN:
Yes it would be great if we could make one of the races a WRE. But we would need more volunteers to make a WRE happen, nothing a club FWOC's size couldn't handle if everyone gets on-board with the whole idea.

quick question. The dates on the web site (Oct 9-11) differ from those on the registration page (16-18). Can you confirm it is indeed Canadian Thanksgiving weekend?

Thanks for organizing this.

The ad in O/NA says that this is a SPRINT training camp (which would interest me more), but the schedule doesn't seem consistent with that. Is it a sprint training camp?

I am trying to get the next generation of orienteers in Edmonton excited about the sport and this would be a very nice event for them to train for. Do you guys know how many participants will be allowed?

@Wildfogel: The ad in ONA says "2nd Calgary Sprint Training Camp, 9-11 October 2015". Last year we ran this event as a Sprint Weekend in a similar fashion as Vancouver Sprint Camp. Please refer to ONA July/August 2014 issue, "Canadian Juniors Take Control". It describes the event well. This year we wanted to make it even more interesting and to take an advantage of some of our technical middle terrain maps. Consequently the event will be a mix of sprints, forest sprints and middles. The first event is a sprint and the venue will be either in Calgary or in Canmore. We are in the stage of course preparations and we would like to hear from people what they would prefer. Thank you

@El Chucko: I believe that they allow 100-150 participants in Bow Valley. I will talk to Parks and confirm. We will have an easy course for Juniors and let them race Ida and Soren as well, so that they can get really excited. I am sure that your kids together with SOGO kids, could create a thrilling competition among juniors too :-)

SOGO Adventure Running is Calgary's new kids and youth program. SOGO merges Calgary's Junior Development Program (JDP) of about 10 years with some concepts and assistance from the DontGetLost Adventure Running Kids program. SOGO has grown to well over 100 kids and I believe has goals of hitting 300 kids for their spring program. Justine Scheck is the program manager. Justine job shadowed ARK employees last spring and then together with the leadership of Deanne Stephen has grown SOGO very quickly - including, I believe, a first-ever autumn program offering for kids last fall. Edmonton has a similar program called Kids Run Wild.
