Hi everyone!

It may seem like it's still full on winter out there, but the snow is slowly compacting and most places are due some rain in the next week or so. Which means it's time to think about getting out into the forest!

The first North East Junior Team Training Day will be at the HVO Local Meet at Silvermine on 14th March. We will plan to meet at 10am at the Silvermine Car Park. Directions from the HVO website are here: Silvermine Rt 6 East (from NY Thruway) or West (from Palisades Pkwy) to Long Mountain (Queensboro) Circle. Exit circle onto Seven Lakes Drive. Go 1.3 mi. Silvermine parking is on Left.

The bathrooms will be open and heated, so there is a good place to get changed into your O' gear.

Schedule for the Day is:

10:00 - Intro to the day and to Team Members while we're still in warm clothes
10:15 - Get changed and go for a group warm up
10:30-11:45 - short training exercises
11:45-12:00 - starts on either the intermediate or advanced course
1:30-2:00 - streamer collection and warm down

There will be no cost for Juniors to participate in the training. Adults are very welcome to train, including those without direct Junior connections, but will be asked to pay to cover map costs - I need to talk to Jeremy to figure out what this charge will be, but it won't be much.

Although conditions outside are improving we still expect things to be cold for this training day. Make sure you bring tons of layers, some to run in and some for before and afterwards. We will not break for lunch during the day, so bring snacks to keep you going through the exercises. Plan to eat a big breakfast! For those who are not in a hurry to leave we can go grab some food as a group once we have finished the training.

I will send out another e mail just before the Training Day with more details about the training and the snow conditions in the park, so that you can come prepared.

For now, please let me know by Monday 9th March whether you will be attending the training, either by e mail or on the HVO event page - say "Junior Training" in the comments, how many people you will be coming with that will require maps, and your transport arrangements. If you would like to come but can't figure out how to get here, let me know and we'll see what we can work out. If you are thinking about coming from the far parts of the region then I have space at my place for a few people to stay over on Friday night.

To keep costs down I am not going to be printing a ton of extra maps, so please let me know these details by Monday 9th March.

Hope to see as many of you there as possible! Bring on the Spring!
