would you need to do roughly to clear the course?

Paul said it was about 45km I remembering it being in the high 30's so call it around 40km.

Killer is the terrain. Might be doable in 8-10 in cooler weather.

Looking at shane and wil's progress on the tracker it looked well into impossible territory. I would have thought 40 km was clearable in a lot of areas, especially with the road running out on the east edge, but it looked longer than that, and given how far from it Shane and Wil were, I guess it was slower than a quick glance at a satellite image suggests.

I just whipped up a quick route around all controls at 43km, so I wasn't far off. 30? Maybe when it was only on Stonebrook and Lover's Ridge, back in the day when this rogaine was sane.

How many controls were there all up (or should I not be lazy and just look at the map again?) Looked like there were lots for a 6hr (not a complaint - my sort of rogaine!)

76 - more choice than you could shake a stick at.

all but 1 got some visitors too. intact the distribution doesn't look that bad. on average 16-17 teams per control site.

That many controls alone will ensure no team collects them all, regardless of distance. When you have to find it, stop and write your details, it really chews up time. Steve M and I discovered that at a 6hr event out Sawyers Valley way a few years back.

Also 40km is not really achievable on a 6hr. Evo and I discovered that at Keaney College when it was 42km to get the lot and we failed.

Yeah well that's not a problem really I like that it wasn't clear able - I just wish there where some more of the regular top teams so there was strategy out there.

I've covered over 40km in a 6hr. Also done it twice in 2 x 6hr blocks in a 24hr. Lots of farmland, but I reckon if marathon fit, there's no reason it couldn't be done if it wasn't too hilly or thick. (Hilly/rocky seems to be the issue at Lover's)

Yes very hilly

I guess Keaney was mostly farmland but the heat did us in more than anything. I wouldn't expect that distance (straight line) at the Lover's map given the terrain.

Also Bryce making it not clearable is good course setting :-)
