Discussion: Billygoat Weekend

For those of you thinking when to show up, DVOA is also hosting no less than two events on Saturday with short-ish courses - White, Yellow, Orange, Green @ Perkiomen (website needs updating on that), and White, Yellow, Orange @ Star Village. At just under an hour's drive apart, you could take in both, as a warmup for Sunday's event.

The DVOA events make sense for those coming from the south and HVO is having an event for those coming from the northeast.

Thanks, Sandy, but given the best routes to Egypt Mills, I'd say HVO's event is not inconvenient to folks coming from the south too.

One reason we planned the HVO event when we did was so that DVOA would not feel compelled to provide orienteering on Saturday, and could focus on an excellent Billygoat.

We also hoped the extra attendance would help us cover the now exhorbitant fees we have to pay for the venue.

What's "exhorbitant" in HVO land?

Well at least you still have access. Which is more than some clubs enjoy. And if you get 100 participants, you add $5 to everyone's registration fee and you come out even. Or add $8 and make some money for HVO. You've a great excuse. And as we've discussed many times before, O events are already scandalously inexpensive.

With very few exceptions (like this Saturday at Ward Pound Ridge) we do not add surcharges to our event fees.
