Discussion: Will be...

MrRogaine:
a great event. Thanks so much to you and your team for doing the hard yards. :-)

Will be a great hash house as well. But back to a full menu this time and that's because of a full hash house roster! Yay! Well at least the new and improved version of the menu. No hash browns, only one meat dish and no porridge. I'm sure Steve is on a mission to turn us all in vegies - one carrot stick at a time. (I know porridge is OK for vegies but just saying)

Will have to save a snagger or two for tRicky. And some rice... Then it will just be a case of wait and see what else he goes looking for that we will have run out of. I'm thinking he only wants what he can't have. :-)

I believe it was Shane who did the complaining last time! At the August 24hr I could have had all the sausages I wanted (I was a setter after all) but I left them for the competitors to eat ;-)

Is there ice cream on the menu? I will be sorely disappointed if not.

MrRogaine:
What? You're sending in a proxy to do the complaining now? How devious! :-)

Juffy:
No hash browns? I trust our entry and membership fees have been reduced appropriately to compensate for this outrage?

tRicky:
Hash browns got scrapped ages ago. Another one of Steve's initiatives to force rogainers into his way of eating.
Apr 28, 2015 3:00 AM #
MrRogaine:
Yeah. I had a recent discussion with Steve about this. He trotted out all sorts of spurious arguments against them - not popular with most rogainers, forever being given away after the event, too greasy, did not keep well in the bain maries blah blah blah. I stood firm and said "I don't care - I like them!" That did not go down well or sway him. Totally unreasonable.

tRicky:
Rogaines were about the only place I ever ate hash browns, bacon and eggs. TT has changed that somewhat with the bacon and eggs but hash browns are still off my diet, unless they return to the HH menu.

What's a hash house without its namesake the hash brown :P

MrRogaine:
Not likely I'm afraid. Steve does an awesome job with the hash house - as did his predecessor. So, whatever it takes to keep him happy...

MrR: On a different, but slightly off topic topic - are you sure we can have/should have a HH fire. The bush seems VERY dry and I'd prefer to be cautious in this regard.

(Having said that, every motorbike camp out there yesterday had a camp fire)

As to the hard yards - we're all enjoying the job, to the point that I'm already forward planning the chance of setting another event in 2017, hopefully surrounding Brookton if it proves to be suitable. Anyone keen to get on board 2 years out?

tRicky:
I'm keen to set another event in 2017 (was going to do one next year but organising the Aus MTBO Champs will rule that out I'm afraid) but we already have a theme going for this one so it might conflict with whatever theme you don't have :-)
Apr 28, 2015 3:59 AM #
ShotRat:
What time of the year are you thinking ... and what's the theme?
Apr 28, 2015 4:06 AM #
MrRogaine:
I'll email you GB.

tRicky, similarly I never normally eat Hash Browns - but at rogaines the body (and brain?) craved their high fat content and associated satiety of energy and taste after many hours of glucose and race food.

Bring back the Hash Browns!
Apr 28, 2015 7:51 AM #
MrRogaine:
I could quite easily bring up some hash brown...

LOST_Richard:
PINK SLICE - sign the protest here to bring back - PINK SLICE

MrRogaine:
You're showing your age, Richard. Are you sure you don't want Brenda Burgers as well?
Apr 28, 2015 8:05 AM #
LOST_Richard:
She did them at Bull Ant Mark 1 as she ran the Hash if my memory serves me correctly.
Apr 28, 2015 8:13 AM #
tRicky:
I would definitely vote for bringing back hash browns if it would decrease the chances of bringing back pink slice.

LOST_Richard:
Are they mutually exclusive one is breakfast food and the other is life sustaining at any time
Apr 28, 2015 8:17 AM #
MrRogaine:
Pink Slice for breakfast - Mmmmm
Apr 28, 2015 8:52 AM #
tRicky:
I cannot imagine eating a mouthful of sultanas for breakfast.
Apr 28, 2015 8:56 AM #
MrRogaine:
What about Sultana Bran? Pink Slice is just like that except for the pastry base, the gooey pink icing and the fruit filling
Apr 28, 2015 9:04 AM #
tRicky:
I don't eat Sultana Bran. It has sultanas in it. It only got recognised at the Crunchy Nut Cluster Rogaine because it happened to be in the variety pack, otherwise it (and those other yucky Just Right and Sustain thingies) would have been banned.

Why does Kelloggs ruin perfectly good cereal by throwing that rubbish in?

This is a great serial.

I'm with tRicky on the hash browns, but think he's nuts about cereal with sultanas. I thought all cereal had sultanas in it.

tRicky:
Nuts are just as bad, unless they're Crunchy Nuts.
