I've (re)discovered Orienteering, just after leaving two years stationed in DC. Would like to join QOC and take part in your events when I return to the states.

Found QOC on here, but it doesn't seem very active. So I thought I'd post this, hope to persuade some QOC members to post here.

I'd love to hear about the club, about the events, about Orienteering in NoVA, DC and MD.

Cheers from Bishkek,
Mike

Mike,
QOC is very much alive and well! Just moved here this past summer, delighted to be back in the "O-Zone" as Valerie Meyer put it. Lots of great terrain and people.

Check out http://qoc.us.orienteering.org/ for weekly events, usually Sundays but also some Saturdays. No local meets over the summer, but some club members get together for training events, I think Weds or Thurs nights. Probably a good call, it's May and already getting quite hot here.

Are you military? If so, please drop me an email if you're interested in the Armed Forces Orienteering Team. We have a few members in the DC area.

Looking forward to seeing you in the woods!

SO sorry Tori (and others). I meant the QOC group here on Attackpoint!

Been to the qoc website many times and love it. Lots of learning there. QOC is one of the few reasons I look forward to being back in DC someday. (So nice to be 8000 miles from the flagpole!)

I am retired military and nowhere near skilled enough to be on an armed forces team! But I'd love to learn more about the team.

Cheers,
Mike

Sounds good! Look forward to seeing you here. I think with the website and a yahoo group, not too many use the QOC site online. But plenty of members with logs and active in AP-wide discussions. Great place to be, and not so far from DVOA, either!

Yep, I just joined the Yahoo group, so look forward hearing more about QOC through there.
