From Dag Ausen at this year's JWOC, when I asked what will be available for those of us watching from home: "live results, live GPS, live sound and live video (from big screen production) if we succeed."

The first race will be Sunday July 5. Norway is 6 hours ahead of Boston, and 9 hours ahead of LA.

Race times:

  • 7/5 (Sprint): 11:00-14:30
  • 7/6 (Middle qual): 11:30-14:30
  • 7/7 (Middle final): 10:30-11:30, 12:00-15:30
  • 7/9 (Long): 9:00-16:00
  • 7/10 (Relay): 9:00-11:00 Men; 10:20-12:15 Women

In terms of JWOC Tour, who else besides Thomas Laraia (USA) and David Svoboda (CAN) are there from Northern America? (Not counting Guy who was not able to travel to it)

andreais: A quick glance at the start list for day 1 revealed the following familiar names: Rachel May (D16), Louise Oram (D21-), Abbigail May (D40-), Marketa Graham (D50-), Trond May (H11-12), David Svoboda (H15), Thomas Laraia (H15), Leif Blake (H16), Tomas Graham (H17-18), Thomas Nipen (H21-), Brian May (H40-), Brian Graham (H50-), Tom Hollowell (H50-). Probably missed someone. I know Stefan Bergstrom is there, but he is not on the start list, probably because he is the team leader of the Canadian team.

From the team blog:

During the team meeting we talked about how it’s crazy that JWOC is already here. We’ve spent weeks preparing for this moment, but it never really set in how fast the races were approaching. After talking about how JWOC is already here, Erin asked the team what we were most nervous of going into the races, and how we think we can overcome this fear. Everyone had the same answer of it’s JWOC why wouldn’t we be nervous. Erin’s response shot everyone’s confidence through the roof and assured us that we are more than capable of running fast, clean races. He stated, “When you’re nervous, come back to the process on what it takes to run a clean race. We have been training here for two weeks on these maps and you guys have improved drastically. I have no doubt in my mind that you guys will perform well.”

if one goes to the JWOC-Tour and clicks on Sunday, I think that is Melanie in the title picture.
