I'm interested in going to the sprint finals and relay champs, but I'm having a little bit of trouble finding a drive. (I would drive myself, but I don't want to risk being pulled over for underage driving). So if anyone from the Ottawa or Gatineau area is planning on going down I'd really appreciate it if I could catch a ride!
Thanks!!!

I still don't know if I can go. If I do, I'm definitely heading home before the relays. Are you staying for the relays?

I guess this means there won't be a Kemp family relay team. Sounds like the odds of assembling an OOC relay team aren't especially good, Emily, but why don't we if at least two other OOC members come out of the woodwork? Otherwise, I suppose I'll have to team up with whatever other Canadians or others not committed to eligible USOF-affiliated club teams are available.

I'd like to go down, and be part of an OOC relay team. But like Emily i have no way to get there.

And you'd be old enough to drive but not to rent, right? Any chance we could collectively fund a rental to keep the rest of your family mobile while you drive the family car?

No I probably shouldn't drive at all. I only get my licence a few days before that weekend.

If you can get to Montreal you can hop on a train to Croton-Harmon, NY. I can pick you guys up there and you can stay at my house for the weekend. It's a 9 hour train ride and they only leave in the morning (you'd have to do Friday and Monday) so you might want to check into flights too. It looks like flights from Ottawa to Hartford, CT are in the $350+ range though. The train is only $64 from Montreal.

Vermont Trailways has several buses a day from Montreal to Hartford.

Even if I can't get to the sprint series finals myself, I should be able to get you(s) to Montreal from Ottawa EARLY on Friday.

We'll see if i can find a ride down first. If it means going to montreal and then getting on a bus I don't know if it's worth going. Also, theres a good farsta race that weekend in Ottawa so i'll get a good race in even if i don't go.

Yeh, the bus thing sounds like quite the ordeal, thanks for the offer John, but I'd have to get the whole thing past my parents which might take a little bit of bribing/arm twisting/begging and pleading down on my knees...
Robbie or David, do you know of anybody from Ottawa that we could convince to go down to the meet even if they weren't planning on it before?

Nevin French went down to the finals in '05 but I doubt very much that he'll now be driving from Edmonton to CT via Ottawa. Perhaps the sprint series finals registrar can let us know if there are non-Attackpoint orienteers coming from Ottawa.

Or perhaps not since the cost of entry doesn't go up until sometime next week, IIRC - I, for one, haven't mailed my entry in yet. An appeal to the whole OOC Yahoo group is probably the simplest thing to do.

Went down in the finals? Well, I'll admit I didn't have a great race, but I was in a pretty stacked B grouping heat with Mr Pither, J-Man, and Spike. Oh, wait, went down to the finals. Never mind.
I highly recommend the weekend to the Ottawa crowd and nope, not racing right now, so not going.
