Not sure a ride that challenging was in the cards for us today, but perhaps another time. Of course, you would have to be in the mood for slower travel. Perhaps you could practice your 100 mile pace.
Thought about changing the route to include a stop by Ratlum Mountain, but figured I'd never make it up the Devil's Elbow....
The idea of an outing at a sensible pace with some good company strikes me as rather intelligent (a quality I often seem to be lacking).
Gee, you could have come with us. Not the distance or hills but still nice.
Yeah, but I had told Lina I'd be in Litchfield about 10:30-11. Plus, I had my mind set on doing route 20 north of the reservoir, never been up there. The original plan was to reach the offset 4 corners (now with stop signs!) and take a right, direct route back to PV, with a slight thought to a detour up to RM, but then thoughts of the couple of fierce downhills and getting hit by crossing bears steered me to a longer round-about return back to the car.
Where, as I was changing, I had a nice chat with a fisherman. Might have to dig out my 50-year-old Orvis rod and offer it on E-Bay?
I highly recommend Rte 181 up the west side of the reservoir. Since it doesn't lead to east hartland, it's even quieter than rte 20. And it's shady.
