Huh???!??! Why do you keep finding all these people who live on a different planet?

It reminds me of when I was working at my first real job with my newly minted Masters of Engineering degree, and the boss came by to invite me out with "the other girls" for lunch on Secretary's Day. WTF?

Man, that's so stupid. I guess this sort of attitude is a little more pervasive, or at least a little more out in the open, in Alberta.

Nevin - how is it being a viking in Alberta? Do rednecks make fun of your beard?

Um, just an afterthought here - did you consider that you might get free subs? I mean, I have a decent job, but I don't get food.....

A little ignorant since i think he was totally fishing for immigrant workers. But on the otherside i have to chuckle a little. Markg I'm sure you've noticed here with all the service labour shortages that most of the people are of ethnic background and for me i've really noticed that many are in fact Filipino, hence being singled out. Sad that they have to be of minority (and get lableled such) but at the sametime these roles need to be filled. The active recruitment is pretty odd to me. I swear Alberta is a mini-USA on many levels.

so put an ad in the paper or, if you insist on strolling up to people why not ask, so, do you want a job? What a turd.

Wes ever hear of the Googleplex, Google's campus. Apparently they have sand volleyball fields, bikes to use, you can work anywhere on campus and best of all they have absolutely free food all day long for the workers! Now that's a cool place to work.

Bash - a women engineer? Those don't exist, you women should be at home with the babies, cooking food for the men and maybe have a job as a secretary, part time mind you. And yes i do meet people on different planets. Makes everyday an adventure;)

I later heard secondhand that the Big Boss thought I'd be offended if every other woman in the office was taken out to lunch except for me. Somehow he thought it was less offensive to invite an engineer out for Secretary's Day??
