We've received a compliment on Facebook from someone who was impressed by your LD cookies.

Not only did you contribute to the post-race snacks but the hot cider would have been cold cider without Goose's magical stove-fixing abilities. So big thanks are due to the Doughtys for their contribution to the event! For those who don't know, Goose also hung a bunch of the race controls yesterday evening.

Congrats on a terrific result - 6th overall! Did you go up the Goat Path or did you catch the little connector trail that went straight across to #13?

Thanks also for the vegan hot chocolate! Congrats, you prevailed over some strong competition.

I hear you on the bifocals! But the lack thereof didn't seem to hold you back.

coach ld:
Goose actually has a pair of bifocals for orienteering - we just couldn't find them, maybe because I can't see.
Bash - I knew, 100% for sure, long before I got to the Goat Path, that you would NOT have a) been so mean, and b) wanted to climb around the back of that trail yourself to put a control at the top of the climb. So I was looking down low for it. My problem there was briefly not being able to see the trail for all the beautiful fallen leaves. I spotted the control before I found the connector trail itself. I hear some others were ticked about that.

There was a competitor who didn't notice the trail on the map or in the terrain, and he mistakenly thought racers were cheating when they rode that leafy connector trail. One top racer told me he headed back out the way he came in to #13, which was another concern reported to me by the same person; that was not legal but it didn't affect his result.

P.S. I *would* put a control on top of the Goat Path. I am that mean and love hills that much. :)
