On the plus side, you have a better chance of making HH lore with behaviour like that.

A few years ago, I recall, Hannah Culberg started late and passed me somewhere well into the course. But she may have had a better excuse :-)
There are at least a couple of instances of this happening in the Billygoat. In one case, the tardy starter managed to pass all but one of the other competitors.
That was a long time ago, but a memorable feat.
Who accomplished that one?
Dave showed up only a few minutes after the start. Damon Douglas did it a few years later, having initially gone to the wrong map, and still managed to finish before the time limit.
We'll probably never look back and say, "Remember Ian Smith, he beat Tove on that ski-o course that one time." But we will always have, "Remember Ian Smith, the guy who ate lots of burritos and showed up two hours late for the Highlander?"
"Remember Ian Smith, King of CMO."
