I figure it costs me about $10/day to run both furnaces. With the warmer temps this week I've saved enough for a new pair of running shoes! Next week is looking tough though. May have to give in.

doesnt how much they cost depend on what the temperature setting is? if they run for 20 minutes, not the same as 20 hours...

true, but bringing the house from 61 up to 70, it's going to run for a long time. not sure what it is for heating, but cooling takes about an hour per degree drop. how much it costs over time also depends on the outside temperature.

I've found that once the furnace is on, it's hard to turn it off again because people get accustomed to 70F.
