Yeah swimming in that water is a bit chancey. Although when I did it - the water passed the test :) it's got a nice cycle course but the run is an out and back.

I checked and it doesn't look like they're running on there this season - probably for that reason.

Had a look at the tri calendar, nothing really appeals. Maybe one of the Perth trail series summer runs though that would mean running training or the Pemberton xc round...

Open water swim? Cheaper, over and done with quickly and you don't really need to train much for it given your swimming background.

There is one in Champion Lakes in December. But swimming? Even bitd I preferred board/flags/run to swimming, it was just something you did as a base for the rest.
