"Came to some conclusions - With my flexible schedule, there's no reason why I shouldn't be able to do all of my running in daylight. It's best that I do that first thing in the morning, to get it done, and so I'm not running up against fading daylight like today. Also, getting my runs in really shouldn't negatively affect my work productivity, so I should stop prioritizing my always-behind work and just run, fer fun'ks sake!"
It's taken me a long time to realize this, and I still struggle to do it sometimes! So I decided to number my priorities:
1. Kate & Family
4. Drawing hobby
I shouldn't my sacrifice health for my family, but I've listed family before health, because basically that means I haven't chosen to fill ALL my free time with training, and spending little time with Kate.
While in reality, it's a matter of balancing these things, and not always choosing one over the other... I do find it helpful to identify for myself which should win more often. And this list is saying, "hey, it's okay to take care of your need to get out and exercise instead of chaining yourself to your desk!" And fortunately, I have some co-workers who do the same!
Good thoughts here! I just took 20 mind-busting minutes to figure out my priorities:
1. chocolate chip cookies
3. candy bars (including peanut butter m&ms)
4. Ice cream + milkshakes
7. rice crispy treats
So far today, I've hit numbers 3 and 4. So, that's a good day. Maybe tomorrow I'll focus on 1 and 2.
No, really, I totally get what you're saying, and am reminding myself of the stuff you say in the last paragraph. Thanks for sharing!
You put candy bars before brownies?? I can't believe you. Go back to the drawing table and think about what's really important in life. Which is, brownies.
Hey, make your own list of priorities, sister! A really good brownie, though, really could be #1. Any of these things could be #1 if it's a really good one of the thing. Mmm brownies.
