fletch: Hi Tooms

I've given my foot 3 weeks rest and then run on it once and it was sore again... admittedly not quite as bad as it was, but bad enough to know that if I run again in the next few days I'll be back to square 1 pretty quick.
I have some modified orthitics that have been extended out to the ball of my foot and are wedged up under the outside of my foot - in theory this is meant to take the pressure off the problem spot, but i've noticed that the sorespot is worse with them in than when barefoot.
Any suggestions on how much longer I should avoid running before I give up and go and get a decent scan to find out what's really hapenning?? Do you think another few weeks will make much difference or am I just wasting my time...

Getting very frustrated. Oh - by the way - my hip flexor still sin't fully better yet either. I haven't done enough of anything lately to really test it out, but I did try to kick a football (just once) and that still hurts...

Yay.

That's all I felt like grumbling about for now

Tooms: Based on my prior history with badly-designed feet if I were you I'd go and get a scan asap as at least then you will *know* what is going on - and whether it is rest you need, or a shot of cortisone, or whether in fact playing with orthotics will help - it doesn't sound like they will. At least with a scan everyone will have a better idea of what is going on in there... otherwise you could wait 6-8weeks for it to feel fine for a jog and then run on your toes and re-injure it as it just may be something soft-tissuey and obscure rather than straight forward osteo.

Eoin: I waited for six months to try and "rehab" my achilles. Didn't work and I had to have the op anyway. The op fixed it and I was running pain free within 6 weeks.
