I should try some speed work, it has been a loooong time though...3:00 seems pretty good, I'm assuming the kid's hill isn't completely flat and smooth.
It's little shock to the system for sure. Although haven't you had trail series races? And kids hill is a little mound of a hill...nothing crazy.
I did 'race' a couple of the trail runs - not the same as intervals though!
I'm giving the North Face California a shot here in less than 5 weeks. I've never seen so many elite runners signed up for a race before! I need all the help I can get at this point...
