What did he think Big Basin?

Awfully hard to run, he said. I did a sort of Brown and I sent him off on a sort of Red. The first half of the courses had a lot in common and we both found much of that pretty reasonable. Then he went off to an area I believe you used for an A-meet way back when. He found the first couple of features, but then lost touch with the map and couldn't relocate and had to come in. Yup, Big Basin.

Nothing wrong with giving a visiting orienteer some orienteering to do on his vacation...a busman's holiday!

But for my money, the most unique experience would have been to run the Skyline to the Sea trail. Maybe starting in Big Basin. And you pick him up at the bottom at the beach, in your car.

That would be a lovely experience. I've certainly enjoyed that myself. But Steve asked for orienteering, so that's what he got (or, at least, orienteering as it is approximated in these parts). He also got to go out on the Golden Goat course, since it was already streamered for the race this weekend. It appears he found the climb quite miserable.
