Not especially quick: over 7 mins per km. I suspect a big part of it is being strong enough to go in a straight line in the right direction, rather than be pushed around by the terrain, getting offline, which in turn makes the navigation more difficult, leading to errors etc.
Plus its much easier to maintain a good pace for 37 mins than for 69 ;)
He's certainly strong. His longer legs probably help too.
May be part of why shorty-pants Kenyans haven't showed up on many O-podiums?
