AliC, I would recommend to wear ACE soft braces for all runs that you have now. On both ankles for symmetry! Something like this
They helped a lot with my case of bad sprained ankles and allowed to continue training on more or less good level. At some moment you would realize that you don't need them for running. You would need to tape both of your ankles for any run on terrain or orienteering though for the rest of your life.
As Greg alluded more skiing and cross-training is good too :)
