People speak of it as if it is scary. I did the whole thing with either a slice of pizza or a camera in one hand (and almost never touched the chains with the other hand).
It is fun and adventurous but nothing gets too scary unless you are really really freaked out by heights. Anything that has any exposure or risk has chains to hold onto, and there are steps carved all the way.
