How did it work? I know the guys who run that and they'd be super pumped someone is using it.
It worked fine - I left early enough to avoid any traffic getting down to Storrow, and my car was still there in the afternoon with no broken windows. Relatively quick to get onto rte 2 and head west, though naturally there was some traffic around Alewife.
Of course, it was only 15 minutes to get from there in to Charlestown this morning, driving. Which makes me question the utility of using the park & pedal vs just driving all the way in, on days I want my car in the afternoon. I didn't time the ride from the park & pedal to work, but I suspect it was only about 10min shorter in the morning, and maybe 15min shorter in the afternoon, because the location of the park & pedal means you kind of have to go around the bend in the river on the path, which adds some minutes.
That said, I told a colleague about park & pedal, and she was mega psyched, because she isn't in to riding on roads with traffic, but wants to bike commute. So, for people who don't like riding on roads, I think this is a fantastic thing. For people like me who just want the shortest possible route, well, I'm not feeling strongly in any way about this. I'll try it a few more times before passing real judgement.
