Hope it didn't take longer to write than the rogaine did to run :)
And good effort - I don't know which would have been the best way to go around the course but the middle section looked like the best to leave out if you had been confident of getting the outer loop.

Sounds fun (although did you get your west and east mixed up? - I'm struggling to think of too many bits of Adelaide where the west is steeper than the east), and third outright is a more than decent result in a field that size. There's definitely a fair bit of potential in SA junior ranks at the moment and I'm looking forward to seeing what your schools team can do in 2-3 years time.

All seemed pretty similar to when I dragged a friend out to a metrogaine in Canberra when we were in Year 9 (as it happens, I caught up with him for the first time in years on the weekend in London), including the water issues....

Had to laugh when I heard about the Hillyard team missing out on the novice points because it's already Patrick's third rogaine :-).

Ha, when I was in year 9 Kay Haarsma dragged me out on a 24-hour rogaine north of Burra. The main reason I could keep up with Kay was that she got about 20 more blisters than I did. And there was no problem with water, because it was falling from the sky for most of the night. We did come back to sleep for a few hours, but on the next rogaine I did with her (a couple of months later) she said we'd be back at the HH by midnight but in fact we didn't get in until nearly time for breakfast!

Haha it didn't take that long to write!! Yeah I agree, it was quite hard to plan, it was deciding whether to take a risk early on and grab a couple more controls but risk having to miss heaps of controls on the way back or just miss out on some controls even if they are high pointers to ensure you have plenty of time later on in the rogaine to get higher pointers.

Haha looking at the map now, I did get the west and east mixed up. Yeah, since west is where the ocean is (in Adelaide) its where it would be flatter and less hilly. Thankyou, we were close to coming second but the team in front of us got 100 more bonus points then us! I guess thats how Jenny and Andrew felt last year!!

That sounds like a tough first rogaine Jenny! In my first rogaine when I was 10, my Dad and I planned to get back at 7pm but we got back at 10:00pm, thats still not quite as extreme compared to what happened to you.
