Yes, worth waiting to fix, and we should be happy that the planes we fly commercially have computers. Most accidents involving airplanes are due to human error, so I'm happy to have the humans make fewer decisions.
Good point! I never have any trouble being super-patient when they tell me my plane isn't good enough to fly. I was surprised to hear grumbling when the pilot announced we were going for de-icing. Really?! You'd rather just take your chances?
I think the grumbling is not so much that they are doing the de-icing (or fixing the plane) when it is needed, but the fact that it is needed in the first place.
The temperature was the exact average for that date/time in Calgary so I guess the de-icing grumblers need to plan their trips earlier in the year or earlier in the day. No one grumbled about the computer not working. I think we were all on the same page there, not wanting them to rush!
Ha, these guys should try flying on a C-130 built in the 60's and see how much waiting for repairs they have to do!
