There were gendarmes at the border crossing near CERN, and on the road to Bellegarde the car behind me got pulled over by a carload of gendarmes. Not especially normal. But Paris is nowhere close.
I'm impressed they caught someone at the Belgian border.

Presumably by then they had a fair idea that there were connections to Belgium.
