Here's a really good thing to recognize - those 1:5000 maps are different than the 1:10000;-)

The first year I did a night-O, I did really good at getting most if not all the controls. I was shocked the next when I planned that sort of effort and came way short. Realized later the first was on the one scale, the second on the other...

So yes, I now know that on a 1:5000 map I can clear it, and I can do about half of the 1:10000. (ooo - in 90 minutes - also know if they've cut it to 60 or something;-) So I can get a quick guesstimate of how much to go for.

With this one, I quickly said I'd miss about 1/4 of the controls and saw the Western controls were more methodical and higher values - so I started that way. If possible I leave some planned optional controls for the way in depending on time constraints.

I thought it was a great night out there - congrats on the close encounter with wildlife, that must have been interesting!
