... does not have some significant differences from the ground? I'm sure Umstead is more accurate than many, if not most!

Very true. I think that Umstead's basemap is outstanding -- better than most O-maps, and certainly better than that of a rogaine map. But I'm always hesitant to call these events 'rogaines' both because the word is ridiculous, and because we'll never approach a 12- or 24-hour event out there. I'll stick with 'score-O' for the sub-12-hour events.
