For one leg work and balance, doing anything with a bosu or other soft pad?
I'm not currently doing anything, not to mention enhancing my nothing with a squishy pad. but yes, those are awesome, and we use them all the time with the juniors.

Yes, familiar with all those. I am a ski coach after all, and a rather good one :). The main thing is I'm just not feeling real motivated to do on my own the same strength activities I've been doing for the last decade and a half. So, just trying something new. Specificity is lost, but if motivation is gained, then it's all good. My goal right now is to be healthy and well-rounded (though ideally not in the literal sense).
That said, I do think I'd better start doing more ankle exercises. Not much strength in my right ankle right now, not good!
What you just said is EXACTLY what I came on here to say, days later now the vomit haze has retreated! This non-specific something I actually do is so much better than the thinking about specific strength and then not actually doing it I did before.
