Yup. 8 X 20 secs hard + 10 secs rest, then a minute off before the next round of something else. We did it last night at boot camp. Ouch.
Btw there are phone apps, as someone pointed out to me, so you can do Tabatas while running or strength training on your own. I got as far as downloading the app (4 months ago).

P.S never thought I'd come across tabatas on an AR log!
We haven't been able to entice Super to try AR (yet) but Tabatas have made appearances on a few AR logs. Because there aren't a ton of ARs, most of us mix it up a lot.
As a matter if fact I am a grizzled veteran. I did the FAR winter adventure challenge the year bent tried to turn himself into a human ice berg. But real ar doesn't look fun to me at all.
If you're talking about Brazil, we're on the same page there. :)
