Why don't you move to St. Louis? Generally quite a bit warmer, large number of great under-utilized O venues (and some undeveloped ones that promise to be even better) looking for someone to pull it all together, nice houses in Wildwood where your backdoor is literally a several hundred mile network of single/double track, paved and gravel bike paths, mountain bike routes, great road rides and orienteering venues, all with hills, woods and rivers if you want them, and no shortage of young people for your wife to orient onto the right path.

Good thought Matzah Ball! Ms Soupbone + Ferguson! She'd straighten out that town....and be a National Hero!

St Louis is such a cool area, but the skiing sucks worse there then here.
I miss all the days I would get a pass from the family farm and head on down to run, travel and raise hell with my friends down there. The orienteering terrain is some of my personal favorite. This so close after the famous Turkey Score O that I had a long streak of attending!
The housing there is very affordable there also.
Well I will discuss this with Ms Soupbone see what she thinks.

I have a feeling this is gonna be the clincher: the Hidden Valley 'ski resort' is just south of Wildwood. They call it a mountain. And none of this moaning about the lack of snowfall - snow guaranteed, screw global warming, as long as there's power, there's snow!
