In my experience, bad ankle sprains take a while for the pain to subside. I wouldn't do anything stupid while it still hurts. The swelling takes even longer than the pain to go away, for me.
I'd definitely move it around, writing the alphabet and whatnot, once you can do that without pain. But probably wouldn't run on it until it's not painful anymore. I'd guess that if rollerskiing and biking don't make it worse, they're fine. But I'm no doctor, I just have dealt with my own gimpy ankles a lot.
Key thing - don't re-twist it while it's still injured. So, keep it taped/braced/whatever when you're doing stuff.
I think there is a lot of rollerskiing in skate boots coming up since they are a pretty good brace. Lots of double poling. Any sense if/when I should go to see a doctor? Luckily I've had such busy times this week that I haven't really missed much training. Dark and rain are not good for rollerskiing. Will roll Littleton this weekend (maybe skating, ankle might not be happy with classic).
