Just read an article in Compass Sport citing a WOC history of orienteering article suggesting that the first O event in NA was at Dartmouth College in 1941.
If accurate that means that the next NAOC in 2016 could also be celebrating the 75th anniversary of competitive orienteering in NA at the founding location! Stellar, especially if a coincidence.
Are organizers considering celebrating this as part of NA0C 2016?

I think it is a great marketing idea, besides just a cool date and a round number.

Organizers are aware and the college is aware though I don't know if/how that will play out before or at the event. Depending on what information is available, maybe,,,just maybe, the very first control location on the very first O' course in NA will be used again at NAOC 2016. It sounds like it is on one of the maps.

I guess the 0 in 2016 is a round number... or is it? Many people argue that zero is not actually a number at all.

I know people who think white isn't a color, but I don't know anyone who doesn't think 0 is a number. Certainly not any mathematicians.
