Have you had a chance to ride the new stuff between GE Hwy and Hale Rd yet? It looks like awesome fun from the aerials, especially the curly bits at Tonkin/Leach, but I'm not sure if the new bike bridge at Abernethy is complete yet.
I've not had any reason to ride that way. Plus I didn't know if it was finished yet and if I'd end up out at Ellenbrook or Rockingham on some kind of detour.
If I had my lights I might be tempted to give it a whirl tonight but I have no idea where my front one's gone. Tash may have hers though and she'll be driving from Garvey Park.
Nearmap's latest (20th November) shows the Abernethy bridge up, and the base laid for the path, but no bitumen in that section. Was just curious if you'd happened to go that way already.
I'll take a wander that way next week if I get a favourable wind.
I don't have access to Nearmap :-( I have no idea what's going on in Perth. All I know is there are bulldozers digging a big hole in Garvey Park. As if drawing the map wasn't hard enough, now they are going to ruin it for me.
Hopefully they will turn the hole into a cave and I can put a control in it and call it something like "Western grassed area, underneath" but actually put it under the eastern grassed area or in the river.
I'm driving through there tomorrow - will check, if I can see anything from the road. The "cyclists verbotten" signs disappearing from Tonkin would be encouraging.
Looks like they have big (master, no less) plans for Garvey Park, tRicky:http://www.belmont.wa.gov.au/Community/ParksandRes...
I have done it many times, it is pretty fun..
Yeah I've seen the plans. They're supposed to be finished by the end of March so I can remap it before the June event. Whether that's just the bike path or the whole lot, I'm a bit uncertain. Mind you, they seem to be currently working where the NW 'horse and equestrian' area is meant to be going and currently that's just dead space (open land with individually mapped trees) so it'll make it interesting at least.
Plus I didn't know if it was finished yet and if I'd end up out at Ellenbrook or Rockingham on some kind of detour.
My drive past didn't achieve much. The cyclists dismount sign at Hale Rd has gone but there's still general chaos from there to Roe Hwy. Spiffy looking path on the northern side next to the noise barrier but couldn't see if it was open or where it goes.
Maybe that was my problem. I was looking on the south side (where there appeared to be a path under construction).
