You NEED to not twist it while it's healing. Are you doing exercises for it? Daily? Icing daily? This is the sort of injury you can actually do something about.
Can't wait to see you once you're back!
I am doing exercises for it but need to be more consistent, clearly. I have not been icing daily... See you soon!!!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
Are you using an ankle brace? Some work a lot better than others and wearing a good one would be wise until your ankle fully recovers.
I'm wearing the PSB ankle brace and it has worked for me pretty well in the past. It fits in my shoe which is pretty important, and doesn't reduce mobility too much. But I've managed to twist my ankle wearing the brace multiple times.
hmmm, I think that is the brace that Ali and Alex sometimes use. Odd that you are still twisting your ankle while wearing it though I'm sure it helped some.
I use the T1 Active Ankle. It doesn't fit the shoe that well and spreads the shoe allowing crap to get in. But, for me anyway, it does a really good job of preventing sprains/twists, and, the brace can be used on either foot. I do modify the brace by cutting off the thin strap that goes behing the leg casue it just gave me blisters and I got rid of the small white foam pad in the bottom casue the shoe insole is enough. Lastly, I use a wrap of duct tape over the Velcro casue that wears out after a bit.
Eh, they do wear out, so if you're still using the one that I gave you, it may be time for a replacement. Maybe tape under the brace?
I don't think the PSB brace works if you roll your foot to the outside and forward. The active ankle brace works better for that, but you may need a larger shoe. The PSB one seems to be okay if you just go over to the outside. And, yes, they do wear out.
So I'm onto my second PSB brace, and am getting a new one for Xmas. I'll look into the active ankle brace (Ross also recommended that one).
And in the meantime I think I'll take your advice Alex and do tape under the brace.
Shoot I was supposed to give you your new brace
Tape UNDER the brace??? Not sure what wears out but if it is the Velcro fastening, wouldn't you put the tape over the brace---to hold the Velcro?
I would put tape under the brace for extra support
