Hah! He dabbled in tris when he got too old for clubbie stuff, I think we raced a couple of times in age-group races over east and he was a couple of minutes faster, but not fast enough on the bike to go up to pro. Then he took up the Anaconda races, and apparently with nothing better to do these days is still training heavily and trying to stay competitive against younger folk. (With an event heavily weighted to paddling he'd just about beat all comers in any Adventurethon - I'll be [quick calc] 59mins slower than him overall I suspect).
