now I want to take running gear down to Wellington when I was going to give myself a week+ off as my knees (hopefully) get better

Looks pleasant.

I'm likely to have a morning in Wellington with time for a run pre-flight in a couple of weeks, any routes you'd recommend doing? (probably with easy access to town as I'm not likely to have transport)

Haha, sorry Nic! But you can't come to Wellington and not run, surely?! Maybe just pack one set of running kit? ;)

Brooner: Mt Victoria is perfect if you just have the morning. It's right next to the CBD, has a big network of tracks, and nice views over the city from the top :) WOC has a permanent course there too: http://wellingtonorienteering.org.nz/about-oriente...
The ridgeline and track network extends a fair way south from that map too.

Good shout, ta - managed to find a few flags and enjoyed the single track, wish I'd had a bit more time to do it justice though.

No worries, glad you enjoyed it!
