The daffs are up - some tulips too. It must be spring!

Our heather has been in full flower for weeks now! No sign of hostas yet though, which is our definite sign.

An inch of ice today though! And more normal temperatures on the horizon.

Terrible floods at home though which has been taking most of my attention weather wise for the last few days.

Some of the garlic looks like its ready to send up scapes. I've been waiting to mulch the beds but no sign of cold yet. Just one fire in the stove so far this year. I did put some little flags out to mark your asparagus crowns so I can dig them in the spring. Also pulled about half of the carrots for Christmas dinner, and there's still some kale hanging on. more pics. A friend gave me her 10 canvas planting bags since she's decided to direct sow spuds this year. I'm planning to put them all in potatoes, but have to find a place to put them. Will have to set up a drip line for them - no way I'm hand watering 14 containers all summer!

The worst part of the warm weather is the outdoor chores I feel obliged to do. In the last week I've scrubbed and sealed the deck and scrubbed all the exterior paint and siding on the house. Also sterilized all those planting bags and hauled 4 more sacks of composted manure up to the shed for spring. Finally managed to see Star Wars yesterday, but made the mistake of stopping by the lab and ended up working there for a few hours. I set something up so I could control it from home, but there's a bug and now I'll have to go back in to fix it or just wait 'til Monday. Hate to lose a week of experiment time.

I know that feeling - sitting in the lab right now! But with music blaring and no one around it's actually pretty pleasant.

I have garlic sprouting in random places all over the garden, plus coriander, peas and carrots! Seeds that dispersed over the garden during the destruction of the boxes! Some peas and carrots randomly in the middle of the lawn, it's pretty cool what I'm finding.
