Have you made any comments so far to the powers that be about the new ISOM?
Many features to be now mapped for "Forbidden" or not; with no reference as to their prominence in the terrain; the new Forbidden symbols replace the old difficult/impassable symbols, leaving no good options for, say, a big passable cliff, fence or wall; control circles to be reduced in size for 1:15000 and increased in size for 1:10000 (meaning very hard to describe features in any rocky terrain will have to be left out of courses); many area symbols to be denser, obscuring details; among many major changes.
It will change the character of the sport. IOF should be sent a strong message that this change is unacceptable. Are you in?
I'm supposed to be looking at this as part of the BOF map group, but haven't managed to find any time yet. Initial impressions are that I don't like the thicker symbols but need to look at the proposals and understand the reasons behind them.
