Charlie: From the description it sounds like this may have been the same as green #3. I spiked this one, coming up the bike trail to the northernmost point and then following the marshes to just S of the control. Pawtuckaway is easy if you have a good route and stay in contact, but woefully difficult if you slip for a moment.

PBricker: I was coming from south and a bit west of the control, so attacking from the corner of the pond was the natural route choice. The route was fine; the execution sucked! Adam was waiting for me back at the pavillion and had get back to Northampton, so I decided not to take the 5-6 minutes to relocate back at the pond; I tried instead to relocate on some distinctive configurations of boulders and knolls. Not a good idea! After a couple of false leads, I was basically off on a random walk. Strange thing is: as bad and stupid as I was on this leg, I felt I orienteered pretty well on the 9 controls I spiked. But that doesn't cut it in this sport. (At least in golf, you can't get, say, a 19 or a 23 on a single hole.)

Says who?

PBricker: I think the worst I ever "recorded "was a 13. But then there was a hole at Yale where I kept putting one after the other in the pond; I think I gave up and dropped a ball on the green.

Charlie: So I have something to aspire to.
