Hey Michael Nice job on slowing yourself down! Thats going to be huge in the long run keeping doing that and you will surprise yourself!
your mistake on control 3 is a distance estimation mistake. Its nice when point features are perfectly in alignment with the map but this is not always the case. Especially here vegetation can change and a map may be out of date. Pay attention to the distance you travel from the edge of the field or past a clear bend in the field. This way if the vegetation lines up great if not you are using distance along the field to make sure you are lining up your attack rather than a potentially reliable feature.

I think to fix this you neededd a better handrail. For example the drop in the hill and olive green grass

Yeah definitely messed up the distance estimation. Also didn't really notice the vegetation boundary along the dark green, so that's why I expected the neat rows of pine trees only later by the lighter green.

About the hand rail, it was dark and gloomy in this forest, and I could barely make out the vegetation differences, and definitely couldn't see past that looking for subtle contour features.

I think my mistake was to rely on vegetation too much on this one. Looking at Térence's route he went much straighter and focused on the contour features and knoll clusters. Granted he and pretty much everyone else I talked to messed up this one so maybe this was just a really tough one in the dark
