To be so close and have nothing left. Well just have to keep practicing. There are a few months left in the rowing season and our times will improve.

Well I hope so. You're way ahead of me so far this season. You seem to be close to challenging your all-time PRs.

For instance, isn't your all time 2k PR somewhere around 7:47? If you hadn't had that slow-down yesterday, you may well have picked up that 10 seconds right there!

Well, all time is a funny concept for us older guys. 7:46 is the best I've posted in the last 10 years. but that was 5 years ago, a long time in the life of a rower of a certain age. However, I searched back to the oldest record I have kept track of, from 12/31/98 when I did 7:22.6 at age 51. Not likely that I will do that again!

I think I was more or less on pace for 7:49-7:50 if I could have held the pace, but I just couldn't. I think it is a reasonable goal for this season to break 7:50 though. I would have to do some really serious training to get any lower.

I'm rowing some faster times than you are so far, but you are putting in far more mileage, so not sure who is really "ahead." We both are ahead of where we would be without each other for motivation.
