Big Jon:
get yourself to Norway to Uni or a year off (au pairing) and you'll get plenty of skiing.

Hi Jon! What are the snow conditions like in Scotland at the moment?

We are actually building a place near Parry Sound, north of Toronto that has great XC skiing. Still a 2h 45m drive from Hamilton but the skiing is good and the orienteering terrain is world class - but no maps yet.

It was great seeing you in the summer. We are hoping to return to S6D in 2017 as my injury prevented me from enjoying the challenges of the Highlands.

Depending on where AG! goes to Uni there are great options for exchange years at UK schools. But not much skiing options there. ;-)

Hi Mike - we're not is Scotland just now but in Halden for 4 months - having an adventure and doing a bit of mapping, lots of O-ing and skiing.
Scotland (or at least Deeside) has been a soggy nightmare for the past couple of weeks - 150 year old bridges washed away main road washed away, 500 year old castles almost disappearing into the new river path and several villages badly flooded. I think the temperature has now dropped and ski areas are starting to open.

I'm coordinator for 2017 - and can guarantee you 6 great areas and easy travel (assuming the roads and bridges are repaired by then... Book your accommodation early - event centre is Ballater (but it hasn't got any caravan site left - about 80-90 static caravans washed away in the flood). Would be great to see you and show you some of the sights - come easy or stay after and we'll show you round (there's also a distillery...)
