I think I just don't jump very high. though, really, the trick is probably in the core strength needed to haul my feet under me, and let's be honest, a burpee is probably a more useful skill for a skier than a runner :)

I think I need to watch people doing this on video. Because I notice that I crouch all the way down and then throw my feet back. Then on the way back up again I pull my feet back into a crouching position before jumping all the way up. The guy in the video seems to drop straight from standing to plank without having to come all the way down first.
Yeah, the really good guys at Crossfit just kind of fall into the down position without any intermediate, and I still haven't quite figured out how they do that. I think I'm somewhere in the middle of you and them!
