Inside what? Does Lukas normally sleep out on the patio? He clearly can't sleep inside Melissa any more.

Well, yeah, he usually does most of his napping outside, like all good Scandinavian babies. The generally accepted cutoff for sleeping outside is -10C, or -5C if it's windy.

Melissa was able to successfully simulate outdoor napping the other day by putting him in the stroller in our front entrance room with the door open, but it's just not the same.

I had no idea...

I'd been led to believe that -12 was the magic number, but maybe they try to breed them tougher on the "here be dragons" side of the Oslo county line.

On that side of the county line the down sleeping bags are a little thicker and lined with fur.

Even in Canada, Mom used to put me outside in winter for naps. I don't think she was typical and I don't know what limits she observed. Warning: Haakon may grow up to own a basement full of skis and snowshoes.

Is that a warning or a promise?

It's my fondest wish for you. :)

Our kids napped outside on the patio in the pram, but that was in London where it was seldom below freezing much. Seems to have been a promising start as one lives in Leadville and teaches skiing. The other lives in Utah and is teaching his kids to sled down the monster hill in the backyard and to ski up the canyon at Alta.

Sometimes I wish I could get Jason to sleep outside because he snores...
