Congo line wasn't ideal but it was great fun. best statement during the race ( at 1 hour and 50 minutes into the race) Harps says "at this time last year I got out of the matrix having found only 3 checkpoints".

you guys just flew after CP225. congrats on the win!

P.S. As a guy who doesn't like winter, it's fitting that the only year you missed the Snowshoe Raid, you went to race in the southern hemisphere instead.

Harps, so remember when you asked if I was going to go after the CP down the hillside I said 'aboslutely not'. If I had said yes would you guys have tried to go for it?

DD and smilingHermes apparently took 6 minutes to grab those two 25 points. We had 7 minutes to spare at the matrix check in so could have equaled your point total but I doubt we could have matched your pace. No strike that. i KNOW we couldn't match it.

Just checked the timing for those two 25pters for us. We got on the Bruce Trail heading towards the first CP @ 2:11 and got back to the road @ 2:20. My initial estimate was a little off but then if you subtract the road portion heading west. It was probably an additional 7 min for us to grab those.

Hammer, I'm not sure what I was thinking when I mentioned going out to that one last CP to clear the course. It took us longer than I thought it would from that point on (right before the climb back up the escarpment!). As we progressed along the escarpment to grab those two green ones (+ 2 blue) my concern went from clearing the course to just getting back to the matrix check-in in time. So - no - no matter what you said we wouldn't have attempted it since we only had 4 mins to spare for matrix check-in and it wouldn't have made sense to do it after check-in either. Ideally we should have grabbed it when clearing the SW portion of the course but had we done that I'm not sure we would have ever caught up to the congo party line and/or would have missed the 2 greens as well, which would have provided the same score anyway.

I think you guys would have been fine getting those additional two CP's since we had 4mins to spare and you guys would have been running similar-ish. In the end it didn't matter for your ranking (wrt to MBR and Beowulf), although made us breath a little easier when you guys didn't attempt it :)
